Call for Abstracts

Deadline: April 21, 2017

Brief Background: The International Student Chapters of the ACS in Nigeria in order to help advance research skills and promote professionalism in early career chemists in the country is hosting the symposium on the theme “Research for Sustainable Development in Nigeria”. The symposium will feature presentations by invited speakers and poster sessions.

Research Fields/Areas: Participants from the following fields of research are encouraged to attend and submit abstracts for poster presentation: Chemistry (organic/natural products, inorganic, polymer/materials, analytical, environmental, physical, industrial, etc), chemical engineering, biochemistry, phytochemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry and chemistry education.

Abstract Format: Abstracts should be submitted in MS Word format. Abstracts should include: Author (s’) name(s), affiliations indicated numerically in superscript, email address of the corresponding author (aligned to the left) and a figure or scheme (optional). The presenter’s name must be underlined. Texts should be justified, one paragraph, 12-font size, Times New Romans, single space and should not exceed 250 words. Title should be sentence case, 14-font size, bold and aligned to the left. Five keywords are allowed. Please ensure to include the area/field of research immediately after the keywords. The field/area of research should be italicized. Refer to abstract template posted on www.acsnigeriachapter.org.

Abstract Submission: Abstracts should be sent as an attachment to AFSS.Nigeria2017@gmail.com and copy nnanakeoffiong@gmail.com. Authors of accepted abstracts after peer-review will be notified on or before May 5, 2017.

Presentation Format: Oral (only for invited speakers) and Poster (all other participants). There will be three categories of best poster awards: 1st prize, 2nd prize and 3rd prize.

Registration: Registration will be open from May 5, 2017 or on receipt of acceptance notification. The following fees shall apply:

  • Undergraduates/graduates: N3,000
  • Postgraduates: N5,000 (MSc) and N7,000 (PhD)

The method of payment will be advised in the acceptance notification. Payments will also be accepted at the venue of the event.
